If you live in Wales or the Merseyside region of England, you can choose SWALEC as your supplier of gas and/ or electricity. SWALEC is part of the public listed company SSE, one of the UK’s largest energy suppliers, which has 9.5 million customers nationwide.
Choosing SWALEC as your gas and electricity supplier is hassle-free – the company prides itself on making it easy to switch to SWALEC from your current provider, with a simple and straightforward online registration process.
How long does it take to switch to SWALEC?
Switching to SWALEC usually takes 21 days, but you can set up and manage your account online as soon as you have agreed to make the switch.
You will receive a welcome pack via email, containing essential documents including the terms and conditions of your account and a copy of your new energy contract.
For a free energy quote with SWALEC, call the SWALEC contact number 0345 026 0656.
SWALEC will stay in contact with you throughout the switching process, keeping you informed of progress and when you can expect the switch to be completed. A few days before your SWALEC energy supply is due to start, SWALEC will ask you to provide your opening meter readings. You will then be sent a confirmation letter containing a variety of useful information including contact numbers, so you’ll always have the option of speaking to someone if you need to.
Do I need to contact anyone else about the switch?
No, once you have agreed that SWALEC will be your new energy provider, everything is taken care of for you. SWALRC will contact your current provider to inform them that you are switching your energy supplies. You have 14 days to cancel if you change your mind.
If you will be paying by direct debit, SWALEC will contact you for your bank details so your direct debit can be set up. This ensures your first payment will be able to be taken out on time, on the date you have arranged with SWALEC. Direct debits will then be taken monthly for the duration of your contract.
I use a pay-as-you-go meter. Can I switch to SWALEC?
Yes, you can. Even better, if you have a debt of £500 or less on your PAYG meter, you may be able to bring that with you rather than having to pay it to your old supplier. While this is not guaranteed, it is allowed under the Debt Assignment Protocol, and is a positive option if you want to leave your current supplier. It may also enable you to negotiate a different debt repayment plan than the one you have with your current provider – SWALEC will contact you to discuss your individual circumstances.
SWALEC will obtain your account details and information about your debt from your current energy supplier. If your current provider is not willing to let you switch suppliers at the present time, they will contact you to explain their decision.
Following the switch
You will receive a letter from SWALEC confirming that your energy supply is now coming from them. Following this, your first bill will be sent to you within three months.
