Scottish Power Refunds

Refunds are available to all Scottish Power customers who have a credit balance. A credit balance, if there is one, can be found on your bill. It is common for households to have an account that’s in credit. The automatic response to an account in credit by the energy supplier is to use this credit during the winter, which is when most people use more energy. So for example if your account is in credit by £70.00, that £70.00 will be put towards your winter fuel bill automatically.

Of course, not everyone wants this to happen. And so, you have a choice – go with the flow and let your account rollover, or seek a refund. Because you are on this page, we’re going to guess you want the latter.

So, let’s discuss how to get a refund from Scottish Power.

How to get a refund from Scottish Power

To begin the refund process, you are going to have to submit a meter reading to Scottish Power.

This is so that they can precisely calculate your credit amount and get your balance as close to zero as possible.

There are a few different ways you can submit your meter reading. By far the easiest way is to call Scottish Power to submit your meter reading. You may actually find this contact method better, because you will also be able to discuss the refund process with Scottish Power. The contact number you want to call is 0843 770 5075. This is a direct phone number to Scottish Power’s billing department. Scottish Power recommends you take a meter reading before getting in touch with them, because this will speed up your enquiry considerably.

Prepaid Scottish Power refunds

If you are on a prepaid, prepayment or pay-as-you-go energy tariff with Scottish Power, and your account is in credit, this is because you have a balance on your account that you have not yet used. So for example, you may have paid for £30 of electricity, but only used half that. Scottish Power do not ordinarily refund credit balances on prepaid top up tariffs, however you can still request a refund if you are not going to use the energy you have paid for. You should use the same contact information listed above to do that.

Alternatively, you can make contact with Scottish Power by social media. Here are the links –  FacebookTwitter, or by using the number 0843 770 5075
