EON for Businesses

With over 33 million customers around Europe, and over 5 million customers in the UK, plus many more business customers, EON are one of the biggest energy suppliers in the nation.

Formed as Powergen in 1989 as a PLC wholly owned by the UK government, the company was sold to investors in 1991, expanding considerably by acquiring the East Midlands Electricity company in 1998 and the supply business of TXU Energi in 2002. Powergen itself was taken over in that same year by EON. In the years since, Powergen ditched their old branding and moved in line with the rest of EON’s branding and expanded greatly to reach the status they hold today.

As a business though, history plays little role in your decision making – you want affordable, reliable energy backed by excellent customer service. So, does EON live up to expectations for businesses?

EON Tariffs

EON offer tariffs for small and medium energy users and large energy users. Small to medium energy users have less than 20 sites or don’t use a half-hourly meter, a SMEU spends less than £25,000 or uses less than 1GWh a year. For gas, that means spending less than £15,000 or using less than 1.5GWH a year.

Large energy users, on the other hand, have more than 20 sites, have half-hourly meters or use more gas or electricity than what is listed above.

Tariffs for small and medium energy users are offered on one, two or three year fixed plans. This means EON will not raise the price of your gas or electricity, and SMEs can also get a discount by paying via direct debit.

Large businesses have complex, specific requirements that are best served by speaking with a member of their customer service team. The dedicated business help line will talk you through your needs and requirements. However, their website offers a hint of what you can expect, including fixed price plans, MultiPurchase, Flexible, Market Trigger, REGO, Unmetered and Marketview options, all available to view here.
