What is a Warm Home Discount?
A Warm Home Discount is a special promotion for customers that meet the eligibility requirements. This discount is an integral part of the five-year plan that began back in 2011. Due to this plan, EDF Energy works in tandem with the government to offer assistance to people that are having difficulty with making their energy payments. This discount works in two different ways to offer support to EDF Energy customers.

What is the EDF Warm Home Discount?
This discount is defined as a one-time annual payment off an existing electricity bill. This means that the value of this rebate is equal to £140. The payment that is credited to the account of the EDF Energy customer is paid by March of 2016.
Here are the two type of Warm Home Discount rebates:
EDF Warm Home Discount Rebate
The requirements for qualifying for this rebate include receiving a Pension credit. As long as the Pension credit is qualified by July 12, 2015, customers are automatically eligible for this rebate. Those that qualify for this rebate will get a letter directly from the Department for Work and Pensions that will notify you of the rebate. When you receive this notification, you will also be given instructions detailing that the rebate should be paid by March 2016.
EDF Warm Home Discount – Support Plus Rebate
This is the second type of Warm House Discount that is available. Those that do not meet the requirements of the first rebate option may have the ability to qualify for the Support Plus Rebate. In order to qualify for this rebate, it is a requirement that you or your partner currently obtain one of the following benefits:
EDF Income Support
This income support that you receive must also be accompanied by a child under the age of five residing in the residence or another adult living in the home that receives a child tax credit.
EDF Support Allowance
This must have a work related activity that results in the support allowance or a child under the age of five must reside in the home.
EDF Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
This benefit also qualifies you for the Warm Home Discount, but a child under the age of five must also reside in the home.
EDF Universal Credit
This is a benefit for people that are not currently working or self-employed. To qualify, you have to have an annual income less than £16,190.
