There are four tariffs to chose from when considering British Gas as an energy supplier, the details of which are available on their website. The British Gas site helps you chose which tariff is right for you by providing a simple online comparison tool, and clear instructions.
A Word About Single and Dual Fuel Tariffs
For clarity, a ‘Single Fuel tariff’ is for those who only want to use a supplier for one product eg. gas only, or electricity only. A ‘Dual Fuel tariff’ apply when you have the same tariff for gas and electricity with the same supplier.
The four tariffs on offer from British Gas are as follows:
Fix and Fall Jan 2017
As the name suggests, this tariff’s unit rate is fixed until 31st January 2017, but bills may also come down. Any savings will be passed on to you. It is available on both Dual and Single Fuel provision, if you pay by Direct Debit, cash, cheque or Pay As You Go. You will also receive a 5% reduced gas price.
Fix and Reward Jan 2017
This is a Duel Fuel only tariff. It is a fixed term tariff which is suitable for you if you would rather have rewards, rather than savings. The unit cost of fuel under this scheme is fixed until January 31st 2017. A reward of a £50 Amazon token is sent to you when you choose this tariff, and it can be used on any product from the Amazon.co.uk website. There is also a limited time offer to get a Fire HD6 tablet for £50, a saving of £29.99 on RRP. This offer ends on 30th November 2015, although it is redeemable up until January 2016.
Fixed Price Match Jan 2018
The unit price on this tariff is fixed for the longest time – right up until January 2018. You will have peace of mind in knowing exactly how much your energy bills will be, as they will not increase or decrease during that time. Dual and Single Fuel tariffs are available for those paying by Direct Debit, cash or cheque. If you like to know what your bills are going to be looking ahead, this is a good choice, as it can help you budget more efficiently.
Standard – Variable
This tariff is not fixed, so the cost of your bills will go up and down with the market cost of gas. You receive a 5% reduced gas price. Single and Duel Fuel tariffs are available.
