Account in credit E.ON refund?

During the summer and spring, it is common to receive an energy bill showing your account as in credit if you pay by Direct Debit. The reason for this is that you are not using all of the energy that you are paying for. Usually, customers find that they are in credit by around £100, but some people find themselves in credit by more. Additionally, some people find that they are in credit after they have switched supplier.

If you have received your E.ON bill and it shows your account as in credit, then you can request a refund from them. If you do not request a refund, then the total amount of credit you have will be automatically used during the winter when you use more energy (assuming you are still a customer of E.ON). It is up to you whether or not you choose to request a refund – most people tend to let their E.ON credit stay in their account so that their winter energy bills are less of a burden. If you do wish to get an E.ON refund, however, then the following information will help you:

Getting an account in credit E.ON refund

Getting a credit refund if you pay by Direct Debit: To request a refund from E.ON, you can contact them. Have your account number at hand and any security answers you might need to speed up the process. You can ring 0843 770 5036 (calls cost 7p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge) to do this. You will need to take a meter reading to complete the process.

Alternatively, you can submit your meter reading online.

Getting a credit refund if you’ve changed supplier: If you have changed supplier and your account is in credit, E.ON will automatically refund you any credit by cheque – this should take 7 working days, unless your credit is over £3000, in which case it might take them longer.

Call 0843 770 5036 if your cheque does not arrive within 7 working days.

Getting a credit refund if you were a customer between 2002 and 2008: During 2002 and 2008 E.ON’s systems were being updated and some customers did not receive a credit refund. If you have a bill from then that shows credit and you are unsure if you received a refund, E.ON welcomes you to call them to find out.
